Issue 13: Two New Pieces for Ordinary Beauty
Ordinary Beauty was never meant to be a collection that arrived all at once. It continues to grow from things we find, materials we want to work with, and familiar objects we feel are worth returning to.
This time, two new pieces have come out of the atelier: Willow Basket with Cotton White Liner and White Cotton Head Scarf with Lace.
For the first, we returned to our handwoven willow basket. The basket itself is made in Ukraine using traditional willow weaving, while in Amsterdam we developed a new white cotton liner for it. The change is simple, but it gives the basket a different feeling — lighter, quieter, and easy to bring into everyday spaces.
The second began with lace. We found a small quantity with a beautiful rounded edge and wanted to preserve it in something simple enough for the detail to remain the focus. It became a light white cotton head scarf, finished with delicate OURY embroidery in the atelier. Because of the limited lace, only a small number can be made.
With Ordinary Beauty, we keep returning to familiar objects and the details that make them worth keeping. A material, an old technique, a particular piece of lace — small starting points that slowly find their way into something for everyday life.

Handwoven willow basket with a lid and carrying handle, made in Ukraine in partnership with a local maker. Finished with a removable white cotton liner, handcrafted by OURY in Amsterdam.
Lightweight white cotton scarf, framed with delicate rounded vintage lace and finished with subtle OURY embroidery. Each piece is unique, shaped by the one-of-a-kind vintage lace.
